The Assyrian School in Kirkuk was established in 1928 by late Rev. Isaac Rehana de Garden and some other Assyrian Youth Volunteers all refugees from Hakarri who were settled in the town of Karka de b'Slokh (Kirkuk).
In 1933 the administration of the Assyrian School was handed over to the late Rev. Khoshaba Khamis until 1948 when the School was officially registered with the authorities
On December 24, 1969 the Assyrian School students were the first among all the Private Schools in Kirkuk to present shows on the Kirkuk T.V
During the School Term 1970/71 The Assyrian School held the First Place in the Governorate of Kirkuk, with a 100% Pass in the final Baccalaureate Examinations.
On August 3, 1973, the Assyrian School Kirkuk celebrated its 25 years Jubilee as a recognized official School in Kirkuk
On June 9, 1974 The Assyrian School held its last "End of School Term" celebration. All schools were nationalized and taken over by the Ministry of Education in School Term 1974/75. The School was renamed "Anastas Carmel School". The School had been in existence for 46 years.
